What is a tit?

A tit is a small passerine bird in the family Paridae. They are known for their distinctive calls and acrobatic movements as they search for food in trees and bushes. There are around 38 species of tits found across Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Tits are small birds with short, stubby bills and strong legs and feet. They have a varied diet that includes insects, seeds, and berries. Tits are known for their bold and curious nature, often approaching humans without fear.

Tits are cavity nesters, often nesting in tree holes or man-made nest boxes. They typically lay between 6-12 eggs and both parents take turns incubating the eggs and feeding the chicks.

Some common species of tits include the Great Tit, Blue Tit, Coal Tit, and Crested Tit. These birds are popular among birdwatchers for their colorful plumage and lively behavior.
